About the Journal

Aims and Scope 
The Journal of Journalism and Media Studies, a bilingual double-anonymized peer-reviewed academic journal, is published annually by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. We welcome research-oriented papers on media, journalism, communication, photo essays, and critical reviews of films and recently published books. Articles recommended by two anonymous reviewers are generally accepted for publication. Additionally, we publish invited commentaries by renowned scholars in fields relevant to communication, journalism, and media studies.

Each submission must include an abstract of no more than 200 words. The length requirements are as follows:

  • Research papers: maximum 7000 words
  • Photo essays: maximum 1000 words and up to 12 photos
  • Reviews: maximum 2500 words

For documentation, all submissions must adhere to APA (7th edition) style. Since our review procedure is double-anonymized-blind, authors should provide their names and other identifying details on a separate sheet, not within the body of the submission.

All submissions should be sent to editorjmsjournal@juniv.edu. Submissions are accepted throughout the year. The views expressed in published papers are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editorial Board.

There is no conflict of interest.

Publication Ethics
We adhere to the recognized scholarly publication ethics. 

Publication Frequency
Journal of Journalism and Media is published once a year.

Articles in the Journal of Journalism and Media (JJM) are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license permits sharing— copying and redistributing the material in any medium or format— and adapting — remixing, transforming, and building upon the material— as long as it is not for commercial purposes. The journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Article Processing Fees
There is no article-processing charge (AJahangirnagar University funds all publications).
